Secretary to The Commission
Mrs Rose Omoa Oriaran-Anthony was appointed as the Secretary to the Commission on December 6, 2018. An indigene of Edo State, Mrs Anthony joined the Commission in 1990, as a Public Affairs Officer. She holds a first degree in Education and a Masters in Public Communications and Public Relations. A Communication and Public Affairs expert by training, the Secretary to the Commission is bringing into her new role, a wealth of experience in Corporate Communication Management, in a career spanning over twenty eight years with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Before her appointment as Secretary to the Commission, she was the Administrative Secretary, INEC Delta State, from April 2017. She has attended several courses in Management, Policy making and Public and Corporate Information management and has served the Commission in various capacities including;
Director of Voter Education in charge of civil Societies Liaison, Youths and Persons with disabilities, in the Department of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Organization Liaison(VEP) Deputy Director in charge of Civil Societies Liaison Division, Deputy Director in charge of Gender Division, INEC Website Content Manager, Chief of Protocol of the Commission, Chief Information Officer. She was the Liaison Officer for the relocation of the Commission from Lagos to Abuja in 1991.
The Secretary to the Commission is a thoroughly detribalized Nigerian with roots spread across different parts of Nigeria and enviable speaking, reading and writing proficiency in major Nigerian languages.
In recognition of her compassionate and motherly disposition, she was honoured with the title, Gimbiya by the Sarkin Edo in Minna, Niger State in 2010.
She is well travelled within and outside Nigeria. Her hobbies includes, reading, mentoring, cooking and travelling.
